After two successful albums featuring contemporary arrangements of traditional music from our region ("Old Tunes, Dusted Down" & "Unfolding The Roots"), MANdolinMAN, together with Mathijs Bertel (Ansatz Der Maschine), takes this repertoire a step further. By adding samples, beats, and soundscapes, the old melodies take on a new, unheard, and organic sound, forming the perfect soundtrack for Jonas Van Thielen's rewritten version of "Houtekiet" (1939).

 

The soundtrack of Wolfmens (Houtekiet) has already received rave reviews, reached the top 20 of the World Music Charts Europe and was awarded the Flanders Folk Award for best album of 2023.

 

The illustrations that Lot Vandekeybus made for the performance 'Wolfmens' were incorporated into the layout for the album.
